On January 21st 2026, the session “Temporary by Design? Impermanence and the Mechanics of Urban Regeneration” featured contributions from Vassilis Charalampidis, Andreea Iager-Tako, and Aleksi Lohtaja, who reflected on the role of impermanence in urban regeneration processes. Drawing on cultural practice, community-led initiatives, and policy perspectives, the discussion highlighted how temporary uses and flexible governance models were framed as drivers of innovation, while also raising critical questions around power relations, gentrification, and inclusion.
